The respondents would present their arguments today against the de-criminalisation of S.377 in the Supreme Court. The bench comprising of CJI Dipak Mishra along with Justices Rohinton Nariman, A.M Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra would resume the hearing at 11:30 AM.
In a marathon hearing, the court had heard the petitioners for 3 long days the last week. With the ASG Tushar Mehta stating the government’s decision to “…leave it to the wisdom of the court”. It falls on the other respondents to mount up a defence.
On Thursday, after hearing the preliminary submissions the court granted the respondents 90 minutes to make its submissions today.
